In the week before release, pre-orders of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt rose by over 500,000, bringing the worldwide total to a staggering 1.5 million copies.

Having announced only a week ago that the game had received 1 million pre-orders, CD Projekt RED CEO Adam Kicinski said it has been a “historic achievement” for the company during an interview with the Polish website Money.pl. Whilst it has been a rather stressful week following the recent of the game’s leaked footage, the Witcher 3 was finally released yesterday, and has been receiving considerable praise from players and critics alike.

Whilst our final review isn’t up yet, our editor Dale Morgan has been enjoying his time in The Witcher 3 so far. Despite a few choppy framerate issues and the occasional hassle of load times, Dale praised the games vast array of quests, gorgeous presentation and highly detailed world in his Early Impressions article. “Rarely has an RPG felt so detailed, nor its world so alive and believable,” Dale wrote in his pre-review. “CD Projekt RED has delivered what is not just one of the most satisfying and rich RPGs of the last few years, but what is possibly one of the best games ever made, in any genre.”

CD Projekt Red has confirmed that they have already planned 16 free pieces of DLC content with every copy of the game. Two of these, the Temerian Armor DLC and the Beards and Hairstyles DLC, are already available. As well as the freebies, two “massive” expansions have also been confirmed for an October and early 2016 release.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is now available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
