In anticipation of Crius, EVE Online’s newest expansion pack set to be released on July 22, CCP has released a new features website and developer video outlining the changes made to industry within the game.
With the release date rapidly approaching, many fans of the massively multiplayer online space experience still do not fully understand the changes being made to the long-standing economy. This is the first time since EVE has launched that CCP has made any dramatic changes to the game’s economy and they want to make sure they get it right. It had long been a daunting task for new players who have already overcome the barrier to entry into EVE to then learn the deeply complex systems that make up the industry portion of the game. The developers hope to streamline the mechanics slightly, as well as tweak some long-standing market systems that stand as the backbone of the economy.
Players can hire teams of engineers to pool their resources and manpower into production, research, and developing new ships and technologies for their corporations. Through new Dynamic Pricing players will no longer have to wait in long lines at the production facilities to get their work completed as space installations now have extra capacity at an added cost. With extra production power and R&D, corporations will now be able to customize their Starbases to fit their employee’s needs.
There are also yet another host of changes to the UI, this time aimed at helping new players understand the workflow process behind blueprints and the processing of valuable resources. New sounds have also been added to heavily industrialized space stations to give players the atmospheric feeling of activity and construction. The sounds will change in volume and intensity depending on the extent of work taking place on the station’s industrial levels.
Check out the developer video below that briefly goes over the changes being made. For more information behind Crius, head over to the official Crius website for an extensive list of details to help you get to grips with what’s coming.
