Volume, the upcoming game from UK developer Mike Bithellis to be launched on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita some time next year, with Windows and Mac OS releases coming a month later.
Bithell made the announcement during Sony’s press conference at Gamescom today, following up by showcasing a new trailer for the game. During his time on the stage, he also praised Sony for putting the spotlight so heavily on indie developers during their briefing. Bithell seems to have developed a good relationship with Sony, having ported the excellent Thomas Was Alone onto both platforms last year.
Volume was announced at Gamescom last year. The game is futuristic retelling of Robin Hood focused on petty thief Robert Locksley, with gameplay described as an old-school stealth game built around creativity. It features the voice-acting talents of Danny Wallace, who also narrated Thomas Was Alone and YouTube star Charlie McDonnell.
Bithell took to Twitter after his time on stage, thanking his fans for their “kind words” and sharing his excitement for having met Hideo Kojima - the man behind the Metal Gear series, which provided a massive inspiration for Volume - in person.
