Over 30 million players have now created accounts in Blizzard’s collectible card battler Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft.
Blizzard marked this milestone on their Twitter account last night.
BY THE POWER OF RAGNAROS, 30 million players have joined us by the hearth! Thanks for pulling up a chair! pic.twitter.com/3EiULtqJcb

Hearthstone first came out in Beta form in late 2013 and has since surged in popularity, both as a casual game and as an eSport. Last year’s inaugural Hearthstone World Championship had a whopping prize fund of $250k. It’s popularity has also led to the creation of two single player dungeon adventures and a full expansion set - Goblins vs. Gnomes (which now includes hundreds of cards).
An Android tablet version of the game launched in December 2014 and versions for the iPhone and Android smartphones recently followed suit.
Check out Dale’s great Hearthstone review in which he states “Hearthstone may see Blizzard aiming at a more casual market, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth your time. This is an utterly fantastic game that exudes polish from every digital pore. If you love card games, love Warcraft, or just love games in general, you owe it to yourself to play Hearthstone.”
