Mike Bithell’s excellent - and moving - game Thomas Was Alone has been released for iPad today, costing £5.99 / $8.99 / €7.99.
“I’m honestly still a bit surprised that Thomas Was Alone has found the audience and critical reception it has,” Bithell said. “Thomas Was Alone genuinely feels more personal and intimate on a touch-screen device. There’s now an instant connection between you and the lovingly crafted characters of Mike’s powerful narrative.”
The game’s controls have been extensively re-designed in order to ensure a smooth transition to mobile devices.
We rather liked Thomas Was Alone. “Thomas is a concoction comprised of three compounds: story, gameplay, and music,” said our man Wes in his review. “All three of these elements are as close to perfection as we’ve seen in a long time … probably since Valve wowed the industry with Portal in 2007. If you’re a fan of indie, puzzle games, or stories, you are doing yourself a disservice by not playing Thomas was Alone. Whether you’re on PS3 or Vita, this gem is a must.”
